I agree 100%. Students can also take control by working in their chosen field while in school and bring examples to class. Challenge the text and bring their own theory. I did this and even though it took me five years to graduate, my career catapulted quicker. The best thing that ever happened to me out of college was the mentor relationship I had with a regular speaker and guest prof. in a business course. He had a business and shared his real challenges and experiences. Only a few of us reached out to him and we benefited greatly.
Participate in your local schools, professionals; and students, seek them out.
