I have been on the market for some time now and told we would have more success marketing ourself as a consultant than a candidate for our natural progression within a company.
I have never been a consultant and fear the rollercoaster ride of trying to get clients and servicing cleints I do have (when I have one!). Help. |

I would imagine the advice is to open your options of value to a company more than become a career consultant. That may in fact create opportunities for you to do some relevant work for a company while checking each other out for long term fit. You may also find relevant project work that you can market with active success.
Good luck!
