DEFINITION OF DOG TRAINING: Control for you and routine for your dog.

PRACTICE at home is what brings success. class is to teach you what to teach your dog at home . Two short periods of training are better for your dog than one long one. We recommend two 15/20 minute session each day.

EXERCISE YOUR DOG AT LEAST 30 MINUTES EACH DAY. Utilize the commands your learning by building constructive playtime with your dog.

ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING! The way you feel affects your dog and how he will respond to your training. Keep this in mind when you are frustrated or tired. Always end training on a good note.

WIN ALL GAMES! (W.A.G.) Each and every time you give your dog a command it is a game to him. Be prepared to win all games. When a command is given if that command is broken before release then you must put the dog back on that particular command. Don't get frustrated here. If the dog refuses, simply go to something you know he'll do and then try the command he's refusing again.

AFFECTION! Can a dog be loved too much? No! But they can receive too many treats. You can give praise at the wrong moment which will teach your dog that something you dislike is actually okay.

TIMING IS EVERYTHING! In dog training timing is of the essence. Whether your praising, redirecting a drive, or correcting the timing involved is of the utmost importance.

ROCK OF AGES! All dogs at any age can be trained. All it takes is a dedicated and understanding owner. Working with a dog trainer enhances your ability to train your dog effectively.

FUN! Remember to have fun with your dog. Involve your dog in all of the things you do. If you are interested in learning how to do sports with your dog visit our website. www.denverdogworks.com
