Is the owning LLC the same company as the DBA, or a wholly owned subsidiary?

It will be one of several DBAs under the LLC. The LLC and the other DBAs are owned solely by myself. This new DBA I plan to do with a partner. Should we create a completely seperate LLC for this one?

Rob - your work looks great! I have many questions. Starting with: are the businesses unique from each other or are you really creating products? All I have to go on is LinkedIn and your sites so I understand you may be creating something "different". Without knowing you or your goals, yet, I caution you may be complicating matters you don't have to.

Sorry, I'm being pretty vague. I have several things going on at once (none of which have anything to do with my portfolio site). One dba will be a t-shirt company, one is an online service run by my wife, and this other one is a product I'm developing with a friend. I was hoping to consolidate all of these under one LLC to keep things simple.

I love the entrepreneur! I am also glad you have opened up. I know a number of serial entrepreneur households with diverse businesses and they all keep them separate - including me...My wife runs Js Design and even the on and offline retail business version of this business (launching soon) will be separate for many reasons. The holding company you are looking at may not be required for what you are doing.
What will keep you life simple (good luck with that), you will need a great CPA/business advisor - that is what you need!
