Our budget to start is minimum, so I am trying to get help from diverse places. you would think that people that already has a business are willing to help you but most of the times that is not the case. I would appreciate any assitance on this matter. My intended business would consist of: - Online gift basket business for individuals and corporations. - in the future I will incorporate more types - the Company that we would like to form is a LLC. Any help is greatly appreciated |

Christopher,
An LLC can be registered with your Secretary of State. In CO and many if not all states now (where are you located - build a profile here in the usercp to tell us more about you!), have an online registration process that is easy and saves money by doing it online. Check that out in your state, search the database for your name. Online business requires good online marketing and web-strategies. You may have found some helpful info on this forum: Pay per click SEO Networking Good luck with your business!

I would add that some early cost I find important are great photos and descriptions of the baskets and contents for your website. Take the time to do this well.

Thanks a lot for your information.
I am an IT person (Computer Engineer), I live in Marietta GA., so the LLC will be falling under GA laws. I heard about a software called LLC maker. Have you heard about it??? also I contacted the Georgia Department of Revenue and they provided me with the following address www.georgia.gov. there you can register and get your company registered and also your sales tax id as well as the federal ID. but before moving forward with that I wanted to make sure that they way my company is formed as an LLC is done in the right way to avoid legal problems down the road. thanks again for your help |

I did not know anything about SBA. Since I decided to start a business, It is amazing how many things need to be considered prior opening the business.
I found the information you provided to me kindly very useful. Thanks again for your reply |

I understand that this is an older thread, but I too have decided on an LLC business entity and have a couple questions to add. I am creating a web-based business, but will not be selling tangible items and instead more or less advertisements (classifieds). The business will be operating from Colorado, but I have concluded I will need federal trademarks for what I am looking to do and was wondering if when establishing the company I need to do anything special or if a Colorado entity created here ( http://www.sos.state.co.us/biz/FileDoc.do ) would be sufficient (because I will technically be doing business in multiple states equally)? Also, would I need a federal trade name or no (if it exists)? I'm sorry for the multiple questions, but I would really like to set up as much as possible and not pay a lawyer $10,000 (as that was what a lawyer quoted me). Thanks in advance...

No problem bringing on older thread back to life. That is what I love about this forum.
Registering your business in CO and selling worldwide is not an issue. If you have a product that needs protecting (trademarking can be informal), it is a good idea to get an attorney. You might poke around Legal Zoom

that site definitely had some helpful information...and after looking into common law rights...i do not believe its necessary to register my trademark federally (at least not immediately). Right now I am split between setting up my LLC via the Colorado SOS or Legal Zoom. My question is: by submitting articles of organization...is this the same as what legal zoom does for you (or is there more to it)?
