Default Twitter Study

I was turned on to this twitter study by one of my tweets. The results are not that surprising, but interesting anyway.

The study adds to my curiosity why heavy users use social media.

For you:

is it strategic in building relationships and self promotion, or

a break from the grind with your "friends".

Is there a different behavior from the independent / business owner and the corporate employee?

Take that poll and post your views in this thread.

I don't use twitter (learned about twitter here). I do spend a lot of time online during work reading and learning from a dozen blogs and this forum. Twatter looks like a place I could follow those I like to read, no?

Twitter is a good place to follow those you like to read online. Assuming your favorite bloggers tweet. Many tweet blog posts only so if you subscribe to their blog, no big benefit. Others who you enjoy reading for what ever reason add additional value in micro-blogging (twitter).

Just like anything else social networking - you get what you put in and surround yourself with.

I love the idea of twittering, you can just place it on your site's mainpage, and people will want to know whatcha up to, etc. Its neat, but it IS a good target for stalkers, though. I mean, I know there are people who use twitter with their cell phones.

Anyway, its mostly self-promotion and brand awareness.
