Doing business abroad can be a little tricky if you're not familiar with the culture that you're dealing with. However, I think we can all agree that no matter where you are in the world, having good relationships is key. Linda Sherman of It's Different For Girls recently interviewed Rohit Bhargava and he said this about customer service and business relationships: "Building a good relationship does take time. In my experience, I have found BtoB marketers to be the most accepting of this fact across the world. Japan may require more time and effort than many other cultures, but the idea of spending time to build an ongoing relationship is often a core concept that salespeople understand, but marketers have trouble with. The ROI of this type of effort can be huge because it is focused on a direct relationship and more broadly on word of mouth..." Lately "Building good relationships" appears to be the ongoing theme in my blog readings. Perhaps it's just bloggers and people hanging out online who are getting it (I do read many marketing blogs) or there is indeed a shift happening - as Kelly Erickson of Maximum Customer Experience noted in a comment. Find out more about Rohit at the Influential Marketing Blog. I guarantee you'll learn something new! Also, check out some of the good reviews he's getting with his new book, Personality Not Included: Why Companies Lose Their Authenticity And How Great Brands Get it Back click here to read more from and support Customers Are Always...
