"Authenticity" is a word that has been popping up in my business blog readings lately. Today I'd like to share with you a podcast put on by Anna Farmery of
The Engaging Brand where she talks to Chris Rosica, author of
The Authentic Brand. Here are just a few notes and thoughts I jotted down from the podcast (
listen to it here)...
- The time is right for a brand to be authentic because there are way too many copycat companies out there with less than quality products and sub-par service.
- Speak to your customers' intelligence; Talk to them on their level. Don't talk down to them.
- Use a story to communicate what differentiates your brand from other companies. People relate to stories.
- Companies who are successful stand for something that goes beyond profits.
- Successful companies are involved in charitable giving all year long - being of service to the community. This is authentic.
Successful leaders think like their customers.
So, are you an authentic brand? I challenge you to go through these notes and if there is an area that you need to work on, spend some time focusing on it and brainstorming ideas on how you could improve.
How would you define an authentic brand?
