“Joining the conversation” may possibly be the catch-phrase of the year when it comes to marketing your business online and managing the relationships you have with customers. Those of us who have been part of the conversation may feel somewhat jaded because we’ve been doing it for so long. Although there are some people who don’t have to join the conversation, as a business you should still be aware of what people are saying about you.
Yes, there is a great deal of hype around social media, but I happen to think it's a good thing. We need as many businesses as possible to become involved with the online community. We want businesses to engage with their customers.
That said, I'd like to share with you a website that the people over at 1to1 Media just launched: www.getpastthehype.com. If you're looking for help with your online social media/networking strategy, this website could be a good place to start.
And speaking of social media, this past Sunday I was a co-host of a show on BlogTalkRadio which covered the topic of Twitter. I joined Sarah Conley of Coutorture, the online fashion forum, to chat about what Twitter is and how you could use it to connect with people.
