Russell Shaw shares some thoughts about the recent announcements of Vonage to integrate online chat for its customers and to help Skype customers keep their phone numbers.

I give Vonage props for offering an easier way for customers to communicate with them. However, part of me is still a bit skeptical about how effective their service will be. Maybe its because I have this negative belief about telecommunications company (How ironic to be in the communications business but you can't communicate with customers!) due to the
recent press about Comcast.
Vonage has had its share of bad stories as well.
I could easily say, "It is what it is" and just accept that telecommunications companies will always have inconsistent service, but I have a feeling that someday one of these companies will step up to the plate
