It was bound to happen that as more companies are moving to the social networking site Twitter for marketing and building customer relationships they are now using it as a recruiting tool. It appears that many organizations are shying away from traditional job listing boards and creating their own in-house job boards and Twitter is just a natural extension.

If you haven't created a Twitter account this would be a good reason to do so. You will need a user name, profile picture, links to your website or other listings such as LinkedIn and a short bio.
Keep your information professional, targeted to your audience and remember that as you post you will be painting a picture of yourself.

Use the Twitter search or tools such as Twellow.com to target the people you follow. You can target industries such as "computers" or companies such as "Mattel" and further narrow your search to geographic areas such as "Denver" etc. If you don't know what industries or companies to target this would be a great time to take advantage of the tools found in the Strategic Career Plan.
