Thread: Creative corporate training

  1. Creative corporate training

    Hey there all!

I have learned there are a few companies out there who hire actors to facilitate corporate training seminars and events. I'm especially interested in the more creative aspects that this can entail, like showing business people how to unlock their creativity through acting exercises and other techniques. Unfortunately I live in an area where corporate training work is scarce to start, and this kind of company does not exist. Just wondering what, if any, information people might have about this.

  2. hire or be hired

Are you looking to conduct the training or looking for those to train in your org.?

  3. I am currently an actor and I am interested in getting involved in this type of corporate training.

I have uncovered 2 companies that do this type of work, one in NYC and one in Minnesota, but I am interested in doing something closer to home. I live in Salt Lake City, UT.

  4. a need ID

Looks like you may have uncovered a need in your region. Would it be of interest to start you own company or go independent? You could market yourself outside of your region too for travel or perhaps online training with video - these guys could help with the video...www.thestrategicmediagroup.com
What would you focus your training on?

  5. From what I understand, these kind of companies have found success in two areas: hiring actors to facilitate roleplaying situations where employees have to deal with sexual harassment, discrimination, and other HR issues. The second is using acting exercises to help business people open up and become more creative, facilitating more creative solutions to business obstacles, and becoming better communicators and public presenters.

The last is especially what I would like to focus on.

I am interested in starting a business that would do something like this, but I am not much of a businessperson. I would need a partner who knows a little more about the business. That's why I came here to find out if anyone else was doing anything like this.

  7. Well, I'm glad at least one person is interested in my questions.

I have found some limited success in this kind of endeavor. When I was teaching acting classes for adults, I had an advertising executive come and take a few of my classes. She brought some friends. She and the rest all thought that the classes were instrucive, helpful, and I still keep in contact with her. She's told me that the classes helped her become more comfortable presenting and talking with people in general, as well as being less tense in general.
