Today on CBS-7 we were talking twitter! Seems like everyone is these days. They're tweeting, they're tweeters and some are even twits (twit definition: an idiot or not the smartest/brightest person sometimes even a jerk).
One of the unique things about Twitter is the entire Twitterverse (the Twitter universe) language.
The most common you'll find as you start out on Twitter are:
Tweeter: Someone who uses Twitter and sends out tweets.
Tweets: 140 character message sent out in Twitter
RT (Retweet): To tweets something that someone else tweeted
@ reply or at reply: To communicate directly with a specific tweeter that all other tweeters can see/view publicly
DM (direct message): To send a tweet directly to someone that is only seen by them and is not for public consumption.
Hash Tags: Are used to denote specific conversations or subjects and make them easily searchable through Twitter search.
Twitter Handle: Your Twitter name
It'll take about 30 tweets for you to get your Twitter voice. Think about what you want to be known for and who you want to connect with on Twitter anyway.Maria Elena Duron, CEO, Buzz to Bucks, broadens the network of busy people through effective social marketing strategies.
