At one point in our conversations, we've heard the acronym NIMBY (Not In My Backyard). It usually refers to something like a new apartment complex going up in your community, or possibly a waste disposal plant and even in your office it could be strange things brought in by your office, cubicle mates or co-workers.
Yet, when it comes to networking that IS exactly where you start.
Start with who you already know.
Look at your database and first determine if you have all the correct information. How can you reach out to them or even connect to say "hi" if you don't have their current contact info such as email, cell phone number, or even the company that they're at?

- Connect and "be known" in your local market.
- Create connections and links with people who stay consistently connected with your niche or best type of connections.
As you're updating your database, think also of who you do business with.
