career ambition

Consistent feedback from colleagues for 2007 was that I am not ambitious enough to progress in my career - already hit ceiling, etc.

This frustrates me because I am viewed as smart and valuable, but they are right, I am not progressing anymore. I am not the type to market myself and stick my neck out in a competitive nature for my career, but I am seeing the need to take control.

Anybody in the same boat? How have you dealt?

Some have the personality to sell or self promote and some don't, yet. Avoiding overselling or not adding value, I find that with passion for what you are selling, anyone can be good at it.

For motivation and accountability, surround yourself with the right mentors and coaches - that helps alot!
