How to measure trust in a brand begins at the beginning of your brand strategy.
  • What are the metrics?
  • What does good brand trust look like?
  • Sound like?
  • Feel like to you?
What numbers would make you feel like the brand is growing in trust?

Some believe it's measured solely by purchasing and loyalty. Is that what you believe?

Branditos were asked at a recent brandchat and they felt these were some of the things that were "evident" when a brand has built trust.
  • Crisis is an indicator - the before and after effects.
  • Surveys
  • Focus groups
  • Repeat purchase measurement
  • Frequency of use of ancillary products
  • Social media conversations
  • Sales - the proof is in the cash register
  • Recommendations
  • Customer retention
  • Community development around your brand
  • Social perception
  • Word of mouth
Remember, that large doesn't mean that a brand is loved. In fact, many chatters debated whether brands are loved or not. And while focus groups can be helpful, they also fall victim to the "head mentality".

What's most important for you is how will you measure trust of "your brand" (personal or your business) and how does that look like for you?

If we're focusing on social perception (since social media is 'hot' right now and word of mouth has always been 'hot') what can you measure to determine your trust level?
  • How many times do people retweet you?
  • How many people do you reply to?
  • How many people speak directly to you in your status updates?
  • How many recommend and endorse you?
  • How many people do you recommend?
