Default Future of Film-making and other signs you could loose your job

Once again I am writing about a show Donny Deutsch did on The Big Idea, must be my favorite show. Anyway, Donny toured Industrial Light and Magic , the George Lucas company that wins awards left and right for movie animation.

Donnie asked one of the Directors if animation would replace actors. He laughed a little like he was kidding, but he was serious. The director responded with their ability to make characters look so real, that it could - virtual humans he said.

You are seeing actors and other figureheads coming back from the dead in movies and commercials. Hmmm. If you are not an actor who can create random creative genius, is your future in the biz limited?

I found this example interesting in relation to the examples I write and speak about for other industries and disciplines loosing ground to technology. Like the recruiter who is getting minimized by LinkedIn and other networking sites, researchers, change in media, PR, some human resources functions...

So if you are not paying attention, you are redefining your offering on the fly. If you are not getting tuned in to how technology is changing your future, and how you can add 30% more value to your current job description, you will loose. Your Brand is being challenged now more than ever.

Not just technology. Outsourcing and consolidation and lack of manufacturing contribute to "signs you could loose your job". Paying attention to your environment is good advice, but it is hard to do when you are bogged down in your work and life.
