Default How To Beat Roger Federer

The US Open 2007 finals are in place and we see the same talent focused on another title. Venus Williams and Roger Federer are always right there. Roger Federer is truly dominating...How does one beat Federer and enjoy the perks of such a successful personal brand?
First, let's assume you have the god given talent to compete as an athlete - that is a given, and also the easiest part. To compete with the best takes more.
  • It takes real vision and focus. Not just "seeing" the ball, but seeing where it is going.
  • Know what you love and develop your natural talents.
  • Work hard everyday with no missed steps towards the vision of you as a champion.
  • Surround yourself with mentors, teachers and teammates that push you further than you can go on your own. Be that mentor for others.
  • Integrate the balance of your core values into your life.
  • Make a difference in an area you are passionate about. Not just writing checks, but getting something done! Your purpose will keep you going.
  • Constantly improve and embrace change in all aspects of your life.
Simple enough. So get to work on taking on Federer - or who ever is the top in your field! Don't stop there and let your job define you...like Federer bringing education and sports to the poorest countries through his foundation, find your purpose and get it done. The full YOU is a personal brand with power and control earning love by many.
