I just returned from New York City, and no other place has more power to remind me of how much I have changed my financial identity.
I lived there twenty-five years ago, and couldn't have been more financially uncertain than I was at that time. To be back in New York and have gone from being a "starving artist" to an expert in financial behavior is a powerful reminder of how possible it is to change one's identity. It didn't happen overnight, and there were plenty of challenges along the way, but one minute at a time, one choice at a time, and one day at a time, my new reality surfaced. As you develop a new persona with money, you too will face resistance to that growth. It may come from people who need you to stay financially helpless so they can stay in a “rescuer” role. The resistance may just be your own, because even though your current state with money may not be comfortable, it is familiar, and the great unknown of change can be scary. Take A Minute: What or who is resisting your financial transformation? Make A Minute: Acknowledge the source of resistance without judging it. Then take a deep breath and summon the courage to act in alignment with your new financial reality by taking one action today that is consistent with your new vision. Your courage to change how you think, speak, and act with money will pay huge dividends over time. Be consistent, be methodical, and mostly, be determined, and before you know it, your fantastic future will be your perfect present!
