The Way To His Heart

I'm convinced that the way to a man's heart is not through his stomach but through his wallet. I don't mean by spending our way through it, but by getting involved with the family finances.

I meet bright, educated women all the time who leave the money management up to the guys, because it bores them, they don't know what to ask or they're convinced that it will all be taken care of.

Well, it isn't always. If your man is intent on slaying the money dragon and rescuing his maiden, fine. I still think we owe him the additional peace of mind that we'll be taken care of if something happens to him, by knowing where everything is, what it's for and what to do if we should have to take over.

Choose an area of your family's finances to get up to speed on. Set a date and time to get together and begin your educational process.

Ultimately, the goal is to be equally informed about what's happening with your money, be involved with it in some way every month, and have a plan for what you'd do about managing your money in each other's absence.

"The Way to a Man's Heart is Through His Stomach" is an old adage. It is not advisable to get to a man's heart only through his stomach, because then the love lasts only till the stomach is filled.

well said maryannssms! i do agree with you jen, i think we should give our husband the benefits of a peaceful mind by doing the budgetting. this is what we call, labour of love.
