    Personal Financial Statement

Regular visitor/first time poster! I thought this community would love to hear that when I looked at a personal financial statement from the SBA http://www.sba.gov/sbaforms/sba413.pdf, I kept thinking about the concept I read here about personal mission and vision statements.

So I wonder if you advice people to have a personal financial statement. Not an actual financial statement document, rather, a statement of future personal financial vision/goals?

Thanks for visiting and posting! Many people and often times financial goals are present in a personal mission and vision. Having a separate statement of financial goals for, say, the next year is valuable too. What is most effective is stating tangible results (so what?). A vision of specific zeros in the bank account / actual investment as a result of cash on hand. Now you have a something you can see - in conjunction to a plan to get there.

As a part of personal goal, always have a good understanding of your true financial situation. I agree in the importance of producing then writing and saying your finacial goals. The result may be a more open relationship with money and values.
