What, Me Worry?
As you can imagine, people show up at my figurative door hoping to find relief from financial worry. Their situations vary, from the somewhat minor to the very grave, but my clients all come with worry, nonetheless.
As we center our conversations on their vision and purpose, on the details of the life they want money to support, an interesting shift occurs; they go from worry to wonder, and start exploring options instead of reacting to occurrences.
Take A Minute:
Are you worried about your money or wondering about it?
Make A Minute:
Take one area of financial worry, and put yourself in “wonder mode.” Ask yourself a question about the situation, one that starts with “I wonder....” For example, instead of replaying the words, “I'm worried I won't have enough money to retire,” ask yourself, “I wonder how much money it will take to retire?” Then choose one action to get you to your answer, such as finding a retirement calculator online to help you discover what you need.
Worry keeps you in the problem; wonder opens the door for solution. Worry is a defensive position; wonder puts you on the offensive, in better control of where you end up.
My wish for you? Become 'wonder-full' when it comes to your money and your life!
