Michael and TechCrunch writer Leena Rao are currently at Tesla’s showroom in Palo Alto, CA for a special event showcasing Tesla’s new Model S sedan, which was unveiled last month. They’re streaming live using Qik.

Because the Model S is not currently street legal (Tesla is making up some excuse about not having front airbags), the company won’t allow the car to leave its parking lot - so much for being one of the coolest car companies on the planet. But they still let them get up to around 80 miles an hour in the confined lot. And the twenty second test drive was more than the 520+ people who already ordered the car ever got. The video below also shows off the Model S interior computer and touch screen.
