Staying ahead of the curve and predicting/moving into the unknown as you put it is critical to success. I stay on top of PC World for trends because even if you are not a tech company, you use it.

  4. Web 2.0 is the extension of websites to include interactivity and multimedia.
Blogs and forum for user generated content
    social networks (communities and support)
wikis (database where users can edit definitions, etc.)
    Bookmarking
podcast and video and internet radio
    feeds (XML.RSS)
    all the above combined.

  5. Think about clothing designers and buyers in retail. They have to predict (or create) trends one and two years out and are held accountable to the future.
Creating your future applies to everyone now in this fast moving world. if you don't look ahead and take chances in the now, you might be pasted by as we speak - great show and post! Thanks!

  6. Re: Your Brand Radio - Industry Trends and Building Your Brand Online

I have a small stationary business traditionally marketed through local advertising and networking with other small business owners. I have been busy enough but working working working for the man...I happen to be the man! I listen to this show as I have been investigating building a website and presence that could expand my reach. Sounds like a no-brainer, but how does a relatively successful business change gears to but the right amount of effort online???

Excellent question. I think everyone should have an online presence and find a way to translate a website into selling a product (including the personal brand product). The trick is looking at your strategy and personal talents and interests. You may need to outsource the web strategy along with the web development. Today, web developers must know how to build a web strategy with you or they are done. If you don't have the time/interest/skills, go hire this person/team.

I hope this is a start...let us know.
